Information you provide

Onboarding answers. The short quiz you complete when you first open the app (who you spend time with, your setting, pace, aesthetic, goals, and interests) is stored on your device and used to personalize your daily quests.

Quest customization. If you subscribe, an optional free-text "director’s note" and a difficulty choice are stored on your device and used the same way.

Reminder time. The time you choose for your daily notification is stored on your device.

Content you create

Proof photos. Photos you take or choose as quest proof, and the shareable cards made from them, are stored locally on your device. We do not upload them to our servers and we cannot see them.

How quests are generated

To write a quest tailored to you, the app sends your profile (the quiz-derived preferences above and, if set, your director’s note and difficulty) plus a list of your recent quest texts to our server, which forwards them to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate the quest wording.

These requests are used only to produce the quest and are not used to build a profile of you across sessions. Your photos and your identity are never sent.

Purchases

If you buy a subscription, the transaction is handled by Apple’s App Store or Google Play and by our entitlement provider, RevenueCat. We receive your subscription status and anonymous purchase identifiers so we can unlock paid features. We never receive your card or bank details.

Device permissions

The app asks for camera and photo-library access (to capture or attach quest proof) and notification permission (to send one daily reminder). You can decline or revoke these in your device settings; some features will not work without them.

Analytics and tracking

The app does not include third-party advertising or cross-app tracking, and we do not sell your data.

Retention and deletion

Because your preferences, photos, and history live on your device, deleting the app removes them. You can also reset your preferences from Settings. Quest-generation requests are transient and are not stored as a personal profile.

Children

PlotTwist is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, the EEA/UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because most data is on your device, you can exercise these directly; for anything else, contact us.

Security

Quest-generation requests are sent over encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will revise the date above and, for material changes, note them in the app.
